In a journey to build capacity to the established Case management committees, women in uniform and the 1st respondent to the reported case, Foundation for Rural Development through the Arms of Liberty Project funded by UN Women under the Women Peace Humanitarian Fund and Spotlight Initiative embarked on a series of capacity building trainings and workshops with the aim of standardising case management processes, strengthening existing local structures and women networking groups from security institution as well as creating a working synergy among the law enforcer and case managers.
13 capacity building sessions on primary and secondary intervention on GBV/VAWG, SRHR issues and case management processes, lobbying and advocacy for gender mainstreaming in security institutions policy framework as well as GEA have been conducted from the 2nd quarter to the 5th quarter of the project (from September 2021 to June 2022). The training provided capacity building to the Malawi Police Service, Community leaders, CMC’s and women in uniform. The trainings have contributed to an enhancement of case management process through a well-coordinated process and activities among the CMC’s and the law enforcers which has led to an increase of number of case reported by the community. A total number of 209 cases have been reported to the respective CMCs working in the project area. This shows an increase of 49.06 % as compared to the 10% Percent discovered during the baseline survey of the project. The trainings reached out to 461 women and men participants which includes the women and men in uniform, security agencies senior management members, community leaders, women network members and CMC members.
